Incentives

The NS&I Research Community currently operates an incentive initiative for members, these can be changed or withdrawn at any time. Below you will find full details of the current incentives that are active on the NS&I Research Community - there may be different incentive schemes in the future and this page will be updated accordingly and you will be informed of any changes to incentives via email and on the Community.

Spot Prizes

Spot prizes may be administered at any time to members who have provided particularly insightful or interesting comments/discussions, at the discretion of the Explain moderators and NS&I team. A winner may be selected at any point within the month, with a set incentive of a £10 Amazon voucher. Each winner will receive an email letting them know they have won and will be asked to confirm the email address the voucher should be sent to. Once this has been confirmed, the Amazon voucher will be sent via email. Failure to respond to this email within 15 working days and confirm an email address may result in the incentive being re-administered.

If Explain wish to announce the usernames of the winners on the Research Community, each winner will always be emailed for consent beforehand.

Badges and levels

Incentives relating to badges and levels may be announced at any time. For each incentive, the timeframe that the incentive runs for, the incentive criteria and the incentives value will be announced to all Community members via a discussion on the homepage.

Levels are based on the points you collect in the Community. You move through the named levels as you earn points – for example commenting on a discussion, voting on a poll or taking part in survey. You can find out more about what points level you are at here.

Badges are a way for us to recognise and thank you for your participation within the online Community. There are different ways for you to earn badges and some badges will be quicker and easier to earn than others.

You can see which badges you have earned already and which are ‘in progress’ on the My Badges page here. Your top three badges earned will also be displayed in your profile area. Badges are visible by clicking a member's profile picture.

Leaderboard

There is a leaderboard on the NS&I Research Community which automatically shows the usernames of the ten members with the most points for the month and all time. All points count towards your levels whether you appear on the leaderboard top ten or not.

Additional incentives

Additional incentives may be announced at any time. For each additional incentive both the timeframe that the incentive runs for, and the incentive value, will vary – these will be announced to all Community members at the start of the additional incentive through a discussion on the homepage.

Additional incentives will run for a period of over a month (for example two or three months) with all members who participate in the Community across this length of time being entered to win the incentive.

Participation includes any of the following; starting a discussion, commenting on posts and taking part in polls and surveys. If an additional incentive runs for two months, for example in January and February, then any member who participates in the Community in both months (January and February) will be eligible to be entered to win the incentive.

At the end of the additional incentive timeframe a winner will be selected at random from the eligible members. The winner will receive an email letting them know they have won and will be asked to confirm the email address or postal address the incentive should be sent to. Once this has been confirmed, the incentive will be sent within one week. Failure to respond to this email within 15 working days and confirm an email address or postal address may result in the incentive being re-administered. Following the distribution of the additional incentive, Explain will retain the winner’s personal data, including postal address, for one month in case of any difficulties in receiving the prize.
